Bitty Builders helps parents understand why independent play feels hard and creates the connection, environment, and routines that help children play with more confidence, curiosity, and independence.
Independent play starts here.
If you’ve ever thought…
"Why does my child need me involved in every single thing?"
"I know they have plenty of toys, so why aren't they actually playing?"
"Am I supposed to entertain them all day?"
"How do I encourage independence without pushing them away?"
"Why can they play for 30+ minutes at daycare but not at home?"
You are not alone.
Our approach.
At Bitty Builders, we believe independent play is about creating the conditions where children want to explore, not leaving them to figure things out alone.
Independent play doesn't “just happen” because adults simply step away. These skills grow when children feel secure enough to explore, have opportunities to follow their curiosity, and are supported by adults who know when to guide and when to give space.
This belief guides everything we do, from our classes to our resources to our personalized support for families.
The Bitty Builders Framework
The six steps that help families create the conditions where independent play can grow:
Connect: Understand what your child needs to feel secure, supported, and ready to explore.
Prepare: Look at the spaces, materials, routines, and rhythms of your day to reduce friction and make independent play easier to access.
Invite: Create opportunities that spark curiosity without controlling the outcome.
Observe: Learn to notice what your child is drawn to, where they get stuck, and what their play is communicating.
Extend: Recognize opportunities to build on your child's natural interests and turn small moments of play into deeper exploration.
Respond: Recognize when your child needs support, encouragement, connection, or simply space to keep going.
Find the right next step for your family.

Created by an architect who sees play differently.
Before Bitty Builders, I spent my career as an architect designing environments that influence how people experience their everyday lives.
When I became a mom, I started seeing children's spaces and play through that same lens and realized independent play isn't just about having the right toys.
We can design the conditions that allow those skills to grow and thrive.
The environment, materials, routines, and relationships surrounding our children work together to help them feel confident exploring the world around them.
